Dust mites

As successive Governments continue to seek ways of reducing our Carbon Footprint on the World, the pressure on each household to reduce energy consumption becomes more demanding. Over the years we have seen increased efforts in the way we construct our homes to make them more energy efficient. The introduction of the HIPS programme emotively ensures that the householder must consider upgrading their property if they wish to retain the value of their investment.

Coincidentally the statistics that relate to Asthma, Rhinitis, Eczema and other skin conditions, particularly in young children are on the rise.

  • 5.4m. people in the UK are currently receiving treatment for Asthma
  • 1.1m. children in the UK are currently receiving treatment for Asthma
  • There is a person suffering with Asthma in 1 in 5 households in the UK.

Due to properties being so well insulated (with wall to wall carpeting a common feature), the presence of the Household Dust Mite features heavily as a contributing factor to this problem.

The Dust Mite is ever present wherever we are and as such is too small to be seen with the naked eye, however, it is not the actual mite that causes the problem but the faeces it excretes. It is an allergic reaction in Humans to the enzymes within the faeces that when inhaled as airborne dust causes irritation and swelling to the bronchial tubes. A similar allergic reaction to the surface of the skin can also trigger a variation in the condition known as Eczema, which can make life particularly unbearable when contracted by small children.

When The Entotherm Process is applied to the contents of a sufferers room i.e. mattresses, pillows, blankets, carpeting etc. will immediately start the process of recovery.

By encapsulating the infected items within a confined area and raising the temperature within to 56 °C for a minimum of 1 hour will not only kill any active Dust Mites but will also break down and neutralise the enzymes within the faeces causing the problem.

Thorough vacuuming of all items and hot washing of bed linen (60°C) thereafter will bring relief to the sufferers.
